Zino

Zino is not something I would wear to the office every day. It's too intense for that, at least for me. But for a cold evening or a special occasion it's fantastic. Warm, dark and slightly mysterious.

I wasn't completely convinced when I first sprayed it because it's quite strong. About 20 minutes later I understood it. The cherry settles down and the honey, tobacco and tonka come through beautifully. Very rich fragrance.

Zino has a lot going on. Sweet, smoky, floral, leathery, even a little bit gourmand. Normally that would be too much for me but it develops really nicely. I wouldn't blind buy it because it has a strong personality, but it's excellent if this is your style.

This smells expensive. Tobacco, dark cherry, coffee and leather sounds like it should be overwhelming, but somehow it works. I wore it to dinner and could still smell it on my jacket the following morning.

My partner keeps stealing this from me, which probably says everything about how unisex it is. On me I get more tobacco and coffee. On her the honey and cherry seem much stronger. Really interesting perfume.

Honestly one of the most interesting fragrances I've tried this year. Honey and tobacco together is the most addictive combination. A whisper of white florals that keeps it from going too dark. Works beautifully in warm weather, I was worried it would be too heavy. Pulled it out for a business trip, got compliments in the hotel bar. Highly recommend sampling before committing, but I'm glad I did.

The cherry is not the candy cherry you'd expect, more stewed and boozy. Sillage is polite, which I appreciate, not one of those nuclear fragrances. Wear it when I want to feel put together without trying. Closest reference I can think of is something in the Parfums de Marly range but darker. Will repurchase without hesitation.

First extrait I've actually finished a sample of before buying. Cherry adds a reddish, almost liqueur-like facet, and a whisper of white florals that keeps it from going too dark. The drydown is where this really earns its keep. Bought as a wedding fragrance, it did its job. Totally its own thing, which I wasn't expecting from a newer house. Going back for the bigger size.

Zino surprised me. The cherry is there straight away but it doesn't smell like cherry sweets. The tobacco and coffee make it much darker and more grown up. After an hour it becomes warm and slightly sweet on my skin. Definitely an evening fragrance for me.

The opening reminds me of cherries soaked in something boozy even though there isn't actually a booze note listed. Then I start getting honey and tobacco. The dry down is my favourite part because the tonka makes everything smoother.

Torn between keeping it and passing it on. That dark cherry note is gorgeous, nothing syrupy about it. White florals sit in the background like candlelight. Projection is moderate for the first two hours then it becomes more of a skin scent. Not sure if it's a full bottle purchase for me yet.
