THE FRAGRANCE
Hesperide Extrait de Parfum is the one that catches light. There is a moment at the end of the day, just before the sun disappears, when everything turns gold and the air itself seems to slow down. HESPERIDE lives in that moment. The master perfumers of Atelier des Sens built it as a tribute to the Hesperides, the nymphs of Greek mythology who sang in the garden at the edge of the world, tending golden apple trees beside an ocean no ship had fully crossed. To smell it is to stand at that edge. To feel the last warmth of the day on your skin before night takes it.

INSPIRATION
The garden of the Hesperides stood where the Atlas Mountains met the western ocean. The nymphs there had white arms and golden heads and sang in groves of trees whose fruit was unlike anything the ancient world had tasted. Those golden apples, scholars eventually understood, were citrus. The first citrus anyone had imagined, so fragrant and luminous they could only be called gold. That is where the Greek word for all citrus came from. That is where HESPERIDE came from. It opens in a blaze of aldehydic light, lemon and mandarin burning bright, green notes and spice underneath. Jasmine and white flowers take the heart, warm and opulent, with iris adding something powdery and ancient beneath them. Cedarwood and vetiver ground it. Amber and tonka bean hold the warmth long after the light is gone. The golden hour does not last. This does.

I love how this changes from citrus to woods. Mandarin dominates initially, but several hours later I mostly smell cedar, vetiver and a soft amber sweetness.

I normally avoid citrus fragrances because they disappear from my skin quickly. This has much more underneath the citrus. After the lemon fades I still get jasmine, vetiver and amber for hours.
